Self-styled evangelist who was once known as a fetish priestess, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has addressed the controversy surrounding a substantial US dollar gift she received from acting GoldBod CEO, Sammy Gyamfi.
Her statement comes amid growing public scrutiny and ethical questions surrounding the transaction, with some critics calling for swift punishment and dismissal of the Mahama appointee.
The incident, captured in widely circulated social media footage, shows Mr Gyamfi presenting the cash to Nana Agradaa. Critics argue this action potentially conflicts with President John Dramani Mahama’s recently launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which emphasises integrity and transparency.
In her defence, Nana Agradaa, speaking in Twi, asserted that the money was not given with malicious intent. She explained that she had approached Mr Gyamfi seeking compensation for resources, including her personal residence, which she reportedly dedicated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign leading up to the 2024 elections.
I asked for what was owed to me after giving so much to the party, she stated, detailing her contributions.
This statement aims to quell the rising concerns regarding potential ethical breaches and the implications for the government’s anti-corruption drive.
