The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of four individuals in connection with the killing of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor in Aflao, situated in the Volta Region.
According to a statement issued by the Volta Regional Police Command on 12 May 2025, the suspects were apprehended during a joint intelligence-led operation on 10 May.
The coordinated effort involved the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), the SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local neighbourhood watch group known as ‘ACTION NOW’.
The individuals in custody have been identified as Michael Sewornu, aged 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national. They are currently assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The fatal incident occurred on the evening of 28 April 2025, at around 6:15 p.m., when approximately five armed men opened fire on Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, at Gbagblakope near the Diamond Cement factory.
The attackers reportedly escaped with a bag suspected to contain cash. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and to continue offering timely information to aid the fight against violent crime in the region.
