Prosper Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi West Municipality in the Oti Region, has cautioned the youth against the dangers of drug abuse.
Speaking at the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion Project (SOCO) inter-cluster soccer championship, Mr. Addo emphasised the harmful effects of illicit drug use on individuals and society.
He highlighted the risks of drug abuse, including health problems, crime, and social disintegration.
The MCE commended the SOCO project for organising the inter-cluster soccer championship, which fosters a sense of belonging among the youth.
He called for the establishment of recreational facilities, such as an Astroturf Sports field, to provide youth with a safe space for physical activity and social interaction.
The Kete-Krachi Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent (Supt) Philip Kwadwo Harmond, emphasised the role of the youth as future leaders and change-makers, urging them to engage in positive activities and avoid drug use.
The event brought together participants from various clusters, promoting social cohesion and healthy lifestyles among the youth.
