The highly anticipated Ghana Music Festival (GMF), a celebration of Ghanaian music, culture, and artistry, has announced a major update: a date change and an expanded lineup of events across the United States.
Originally scheduled for late May, the festival will now take place in August, kicking off in Worcester, Massachusetts, before heading to Atlanta, Georgia, with additional events in other U.S. cities.
New Dates and Locations
The festival will begin with an opening event in Worcester on August 15–16 at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC), featuring music workshops, live performances, and cultural showcases by renowned Ghanaian artists.
The festivities then shift to Atlanta for the main event from August 22–24, hosted at Georgia Tech University’s Walter G. Ehmer Theater and Ehall South. Attendees can expect:
• Interactive workshops on Ghanaian music and dance
• Panel discussions on African music industry trends
• Live highlife, afrobeats, and traditional performances
• A grand finale concert on August 24 at Ehall South
More Cities, More Celebrations
In addition to Worcester and Atlanta, the festival will bring Ghanaian culture to eight other U.S. venues, with details to be announced soon via the festival’s social media and official website.
Why the Change?
While the press release does not specify the reason for the rescheduling, the expanded dates and locations suggest a strategic move to accommodate a wider audience and enhance the festival experience. Organizers promise "exciting surprises" and urge music lovers to stay tuned for updates.
