English Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.
Kudus, who enjoyed an impressive debut season with the Hammers two seasons ago, has an £85 million release clause in his contract—one that becomes active for Premier League clubs during the first 10 days of July.
Chelsea are monitoring the situation closely, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
Kudus’ consistent performances for both club and country have drawn attention from several top clubs in Europe, but Chelsea’s renewed interest puts them in a strong position to potentially activate his clause when the window opens.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their Club World Cup campaign, which begins on June 16 against Los Angeles FC, with subsequent fixtures against Flamengo and ES Tunis lined up.
For Ghanaian fans, a potential move for Kudus to Stamford Bridge would be a massive step forward for the 23-year-old, who continues to be one of the country's brightest football exports.
