Deputy Interior Minister Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi is asking Ghanaians to imbibe the spirit of June 4 by ensuring accountability from government officials.
"Today, let's recommit ourselves to the ideals that fueled the revolution, let us strive for Ghana where every citizen can participate in our democratic process, where our rights are upheld and where the spirit of unity and justice prevail," he stated.
He also wants government officials to work selflessly towards a brighter future for the country.
Speaking at the commemoration of June 4 in Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region, the Deputy Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Krobo constituency, said the principles of the June 4 Uprising should spur Ghana’s leadership to work selflessly.
"We need a Ghana where opportunities are there for all, not just a privileged few and where hard work and dedication are rewarded," he said.

Mr Terlabi emphasised the need for Ghanaians to unite to ensure a peaceful country.
"As we honour the legacies of June 4, let us carry forward the task of responsibility, let us build bridges across our differences, fostering dialogue and understanding in a Ghana where liberty, justice and opportunities flourish for all," he said.

Scores of NDC party stalwarts thonged Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern region to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the June 4 uprising.
They were joined by the family, friends and sympathisers of the late founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings, who led the 1979 coup, to grace the occasion.
