It was a majestic scene at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Thursday, June 26, as King Mswati III of Eswatini and his spouse were received in grand style at a durbar of chiefs held in his honour.
The traditional courtyard of the Asante Kingdom came alive with the rhythm of drums, rich regalia, and a procession of chiefs from across the Ashanti Region, all gathered to pay homage to the visiting monarch.

The durbar celebrated not just a royal visit, but a deep display of African identity and solidarity.
King Mswati III’s entourage arrived in Kumasi earlier this week for a state visit, with the durbar marking one of the key highlights of his stay.

Dressed in colourful ceremonial attire, the King and his delegation were treated to a vibrant cultural showcase, including traditional music, dance, and rites reserved for esteemed guests.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, attended the event. Mr Ibrahim represented President John Dramani Mahama and delivered his greetings to the monarch and the chiefs gathered.

Myjoyonline’s photojournalist, Sammy Moore, was at the durbar grounds and captured these striking moments of royal pageantry, tradition, and cultural pride.
