Patricia Asiedua, also known as Agradaa, a serving convict and founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, has filed for bail pending an appeal before the High Court.
In the bail, the lawyer for the applicant held that “the appeal has a strong chance of success due to the flaws that characterised the trial and the bias exhibited by the trial Judge.”
According to the lawyer, the trial judge failed to consider mitigating factors presented during sentencing, despite referencing Ghana’s Sentencing Guidelines.
On July 3, 2025, an Accra Circuit Court sentenced Agradaa, known as Evangelist Mama Pat, to 15 years in prison on charges of engaging in charlatanic advertisement and two counts of defrauding by false pretences.
The lawyer for Agradaa described the sentence as harsh and excessive.
An appeal has, therefore, been filed at the Amasaman High Court over the lower court’s conviction and sentence.
