The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a scheduled power outage in parts of the Greater Accra Region on Friday, July 18, as part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity distribution and service delivery.
In a public notice issued by the company, ECG stated that it will undertake planned maintenance works between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting several communities within its operational area.
The areas expected to experience power interruptions during the maintenance include: Sowutuom, Israel, Race Course, Shiabu, Beach Road, Gbawe Gonse, Joma Agbozome, Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo, Fise Roca, Mericresent, Opah Township, Red Gate, and surrounding communities.
According to ECG, the maintenance activity is part of routine upgrades aimed at enhancing the reliability and quality of the power supply to customers.
“ECG will undertake planned maintenance works to improve service delivery,” the notice read.
The power distribution company has apologised to affected customers for any inconvenience the outage may cause and appealed for their understanding and cooperation.
“ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise,” it added.
This announcement comes as ECG continues to implement periodic upgrades across various regions to address power supply challenges and respond to the growing demand for electricity.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and plan ahead to minimise the impact of the temporary outage.
