Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has received an authentic copy of the historic 'Bond of 1844' from the British National Archives.
The symbolic handover was made during a courtesy call by the Head of International Affairs of the British National Archives and the Chargé d’Affaires of the British High Commission.

The Speaker described the moment as historic, stating that the document represents a significant chapter in Ghana’s development.
“It is a historic moment for me and the people of Ghana as this document captures an important part of the development of Ghana,” he said.

Mr. Bagbin also announced that the “Bond of 1844” will be displayed at the recently established parliamentary museum as part of efforts to preserve and promote Ghana’s history.
The presentation highlights growing collaboration between the Parliament of Ghana and institutions committed to archival preservation and cultural heritage.
