Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare-Addo, has announced that the first cohort of beneficiaries under Ghana’s National Apprenticeship Programme will be officially matriculated on Monday, August 12, 2025.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Minister revealed that the matriculation ceremony will take place in the Ashanti Region, with approximately 1,410 beneficiaries expected to participate.
“These individuals will undergo various training programmes focused on developing practical, hands-on skills,” he stated.
According to Mr. Opare-Addo, each of the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region will be represented by 30 participants, culminating in a total of 1,410 trainees.
“This matriculation will take place only in the Ashanti Region, but it will represent the entire country,” he clarified.

The Minister also disclosed that a dedicated technical team is working to resolve implementation challenges in other regions, with plans underway to expand the programme nationwide.
“The event will take place simultaneously across the Ashanti Region. Notably, August 12 is also National Youth Day, so we will commemorate the day alongside the matriculation,” he added.
Mr Opare-Addo further noted that about 19,000 trainers have registered to participate in the programme. He said certification programmes will also be organised for these trainers to ensure standardisation and quality in delivery.
