Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye enjoyed a strong start to life in Ligue 2 as he helped Saint-Etienne to a point in their opening game.
Boakye scored one and set up another as his side came from behind to seal a 3-3 draw against Laval in the second tier of French football.
The midfielder, who enjoyed a difficult debut season with the club last season in Ligue 1, scored in the 35th minute to give Saint-Etienne a 2-1 lead after there had been two goals already in the fixture.
However, the home side drew level just before the halftime whistle.
Six minutes after the recess, Boakye provided an assist for Benjamin Old as Saint-Etienne regained the lead in the 51st minute.
The former WAFA man was subbed off in the 71st minute, and his side couldn't hold onto the lead as Laval scored again to end the game 3-3.
The game also saw Black Stars defender Ebenezer Annan mark his debut appearance for Saint-Etienne having joined the club from Red Star Belgrade this summer.
