The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that the first-ever Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) vaccination campaign will be rolled out in September 2025, targeting young females between 9 and 14 years.
This follows the delivery of the first consignment of the HPV in June 2025, as announced by the World Health Organisation, an implementing partner.
The campaign is geared towards protecting young girls against cervical cancer, which has been identified as one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in Ghana.
“There will be a national mass HPV vaccination campaign in September 2025 for girls 9 to 14
years to kickstart the introduction of the vaccine”, stated a communique signed by the Volta Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Atsu Dodor.
He stressed that the vaccines are safe and effective, warning against vaccine hesitancy which may mar the objectives of the campaign.
“The HPV is safe, effective, and globally recommended as a critical tool for cancer prevention”, he assured.
Mr. Dordor entreated stakeholders, civil society organizations and community leads to engage in educational campaigns to help mobilize young females within the ages of 9-14 years to take part in “this life-saving intervention”.
“Your collaboration is vital in slot pulsa ensuring wide community acceptance and access”, he said adding that there would be stakeholder forums to provide further information, clarify roles, to ensure a coordinated rollout.
“We count on your usual commitment to make this a success”, he concluded.
