Legal practitioner and host of JoyNews’ Newsfile, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has criticised the removal of former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo in 2024, explaining it was a direct result of his anti-corruption efforts.
Speaking at the Communication and Media Studies Festival 2025 at the University of Education, Winneba, on Thursday, August 14, Mr Anyenini alleged that Mr Domelevo was sacked because he pursued individuals involved in the theft and embezzlement of public funds, successfully recovering millions of cedis in stolen money.
Mr Anyenini expressed concern over the state of governance in Ghana, stating that corruption has become normalised and will persist unless citizens take a stand.
“Ghana lost 18.41 billion cedis in the past five years,” he said, adding that the losses should be referred to as theft rather than irregularities. He emphasised that the funds were lost due to “thievery and misuse”.

He further lamented that individuals who stole and misused public resources have not been held accountable, warning that such impunity suggests the practice is far from over.
He urged Ghanaians to raise their voices and demand that leaders respect the constitution and ensure that public resources are used responsibly for the benefit of the country.
