Former Minister for Education and flagbearer hopeful, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, filed his nomination at the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) headquarters in Accra on Thursday, August 28, to contest in the party’s flagbearership ahead of the presidential primary in January 2026.

He was accompanied by a crowd of party faithful, youth groups, and some Members of Parliament, who chanted slogans and expressed strong support for his candidacy.

The Presidential Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed that five aspirants have successfully submitted their completed nomination forms ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primary slated for January 31st, 2026.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 28th August 2025, the Committee announced that the following individuals, who had earlier picked up nomination forms, have now officially filed to contest:

1. Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
2. Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong
3. Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong
4. H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
5. Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
