Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says the Black Stars Management Committee used to take home $10,000, while players received $5,000 during national assignments.
Adams made this revelation during a press briefing ahead of the imminent clash against Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency said his administration has been reviewing estimated budgets and cutting out some of the items on the list.
“Black Stars Management Committee members were on $10,000 as a winning bonus, while players were on $5,000,” he said.
“Previous administrations were paying winning bonuses to Management Committee members of the national teams.”
He added that such a practice has finally ended under his regime.
“The Sports Ministry has decided not to pay winning bonuses to the management team members of the national teams. Per diem for each Black Stars player is $150, while technical team members receive $200.”
Ghana’s Black Stars have left for N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
Adams has been under scrutiny for not revealing any budget for Ghana’s assignments since President John Mahama publicly directed him to do so in February.
