Black Stars coach Otto Addo has warned his players against underestimating Chad ahead of Thursday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Ghana will be seeking their sixth win in seven games when they face Chad in Group I’s Match Day six encounter at 1:00 PM local time.
Chad have endured a dismal qualifying campaign, losing all six matches, scoring just once, and conceding 15 goals. They rank as the second-worst side in the qualifiers behind Seychelles.
However, Addo insists that his team must approach the game with full focus.
“This will be the biggest mistake to do, to underrate a team (Chad). To think we have already made it. We need to work hard because it is going to be hot tomorrow. It’s an astro turf, a different terrain.
''They are playing at home, their fans will be cheering for them, so it’s going to be difficult. Nowadays in football, there are no small teams. I know that if we get the early goal it will be easier, but in football anything can happen. I said we don’t have to underrate them; we have to be focused, concentrated, and believe in ourselves.”
Addo’s men will be pushing for back-to-back wins against Chad as they aim to tighten their grip on qualification.
The game will be staged at the newly constructed Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno, marking the first time in six years Chad are hosting Ghana.
