The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), led by its President, Bessa Simons, on Friday paid a courtesy call on the Tourism and Creative Arts Minister, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, to brief her on the final funeral arrangements for the late highlife legends.
The Union briefed her on the final funeral rites for Dada Kweku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, and informed that the rites for Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately called Daddy Lumba, had not yet been finalised.
The funeral for Dada KD would take place on September 20, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, the family said.
“The body will then be transported to Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region on September 21 for burial,” they said.
The change in the original schedule was necessitated by the ongoing funeral observances for the Asantehemaa.

The delegation, which included family members, extended a formal invitation to Madam Gomashie to seek her support.
In keeping with tradition, the group presented two bottles of schnapps to formally notify the Minister of the arrangements.
The family of Daddy Lumba indicated that an official date would be announced after the completion of the Asantehemaa’s funeral rites, in respect of traditional customs.
Madam Gomashie extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and commended the union and relatives for their dedication to honouring the legacies of the late icons.
“I will like to extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved relatives. May God grant you strength and bring comfort to each one of you during this difficult time,” she said.
Dada KD and Daddy Lumba were considered pillars of Ghana’s highlife music, having left behind a rich musical legacy that shaped generations.
Their final farewell is expected to draw significant national attention and support from the creative arts community.
