Francis Owusu Antwi, Bono East Regional Minister, says plans are far advanced for the establishment of a Technical University in the Region.
Mr Antwi said that the university would provide the required innovative human resources needed to advance the socio-economic development of the region.
The Regional Minister was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman, the regional capital, on the sidelines of the maiden medium-term development plan meeting of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council.
Mr Antwi said as a business hub, the region required technical and innovation skills to turn round its economic prospects and create more job opportunities to spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.
He said: “The world is advancing, and the labour market also requires innovative skills to drive development”, and stressed the government's commitment to improving educational infrastructure to create access, saying facilities at the Kintampo University for Allied Sciences and Wellbeing in the region would be improved.
Mr Antwi urged the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to be innovative and improve their Internal Generated Funds to improve physical infrastructure development.
He also urged stakeholder support towards improving the security situation in the region and creating a more conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
