A domestic fire at Sekyibea–Okorase at Koforidua in the Eastern Region was successfully brought under control on Wednesday, September 10, preventing fatalities and extensive destruction.
According to a Facebook post shared by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred at a residence located at address ER-1167-3529, where a detached kitchen of a four-bedroom self-contained house was found engulfed in flames.
The GNFS received the distress call at 14:13 hours and dispatched a firefighting crew, led by ADO II Yenli, to the scene.

The team arrived at approximately 14:38 hours and immediately commenced firefighting operations.
The blaze was brought under control within seven minutes, by 14:45 hours, and fully extinguished by 15:38 hours.
GNFS noted that the fire resulted in the complete destruction of the kitchen structure and its contents, which included 30 bags of charcoal, a trunk, various cooking utensils, and two empty gas cylinders.

Despite the damage to the kitchen, the GNFS commended the swift action of its personnel, which successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the main building or adjacent properties.
