Wa Power SC will face Yapei United in the opening week of the 2025/26 Division One League season, with both sides undergoing major changes on and off the pitch ahead of the campaign.
Revamped Wa Power, now led by coach David Nyaaba, are targeting a breakthrough season and will be eager to start with a victory.
The two clubs met four times last season, with Wa Power gaining the upper hand through two wins, one draw and a single defeat.
Club captain Iddrisu Abdul Nafiw expects a stern test on Sunday but remains confident in the team’s preparation.
“With the much needed efforts we’ve put in throughout pre-season and the friendly matches so far, we are confident of getting the best results out of the game,” he said.
He also urged fans to turn up in their numbers and back the team in their opening fixture.
Coach Nyaaba and his players are braced for a difficult challenge but head into the encounter as slight favourites, with home support and momentum from pre-season expected to tilt the tie in their favour.
