Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is beginning a two-day tour of the Central Region today, Monday, 29 September.
The visit forms part of his campaign activities as he seeks re-election as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia is expected to meet regional and constituency executives across the region, engaging them on the party’s strategy and preparations for the next polls.
His tour also includes courtesy calls on traditional authorities, as well as interactions with grassroots supporters and opinion leaders.
Party officials say the Central Region remains a key battleground ahead of 2028, and Dr Bawumia’s engagements are aimed at consolidating his support base while addressing concerns from local party structures.
His campaign team has described the tour as a critical step in sustaining momentum and energising the grassroots.
Supporters in the region have expressed enthusiasm about his visit, noting that his accessibility and experience make him the strongest candidate to lead the NPP into the next general election.
