Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, has dismissed claims that he or other party officials are attempting to manipulate votes ahead of the 2026 presidential primaries.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Abronye DC said, “Bawumia doesn’t need anyone to steal votes for him to become the presidential candidate. The fresh air around the NPP shows that delegates are ready to support him, and we are not ready to change him.”
He added that his assessment comes from firsthand engagement with delegates.
“I went to campaign, and I know what I am saying. I spoke with polling station executives who will come out and vote massively. When I support Bawumia, I meet those who vote, and they have told me they will endorse him,” he explained.
Addressing claims that he has threatened to remove names from the delegate register, Abronye DC clarified that a circulating video had been doctored.
“The original video clearly shows that I said Bawumia doesn’t need anyone to steal votes. I never said I was going to remove anyone’s name from the album. Those making noise should stop,” he insisted.
He further questioned the credibility of critics, including members of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, who have demanded disciplinary action against him and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi).
“How can someone who is not even listed in the album have a say in who endorses Bawumia? Their names are not even on the register, so why make so much noise?” Abronye DC said.
His comments follow calls from Mr. Agyapong’s team for immediate disciplinary measures against the two regional chairmen, accusing them of conduct that could undermine party unity.
