The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on medical leaders across the country to intensify efforts in tackling Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Speaking as the guest of honour at the 23rd Annual General and Scientific Conference of the Medical Superintendents Group in Kwahu on Tuesday, October 14, the Minister commended the dedication of health professionals who continue to deliver quality care under challenging conditions.

The conference was themed “Leading the Fight Against NCDs: The Role of the Medical Superintendent in Integrated Care.”
It brought together medical leaders to discuss strategies for improving the prevention and management of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular conditions.

Mr Akandoh announced plans to establish a dedicated fund to support health sector financing and strengthen Ghana’s capacity to respond to emerging health threats.

He urged health leaders not to “sit on the fence,” but to drive reforms in service delivery, stressing that Ghana’s progress in combating NCDs will depend on discipline, efficiency, and collective commitment to quality healthcare.
