The Presidential Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will embark on a nationwide constituency album verification and validation exercise in preparation for the party's presidential primary slated for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The exercise from October 20 to October 31 is to enable the committee to authenticate the voter register (album).
A statement signed and issued by the Secretary to the committee, William Yamoah, said the exercise was to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and credible presidential primary.
Accuracy
To ensure accuracy, the statement said a verification team from the national secretariat, together with members of the committee, would visit each region to validate each constituency voter register (album).
That, it said, would be done in close collaboration with constituency executives.
It said the exercise shall be conducted daily within the stipulated timeframe between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The committee called on the presidential aspirants to nominate a constituency-level representative to the validation committees.
"All aspirants are hereby advised to submit the names and contact numbers of their duly accredited representatives for each constituency to the committee by Friday, October 17.”
"Only accredited representatives, whose names have been submitted to the committee, shall be allowed to participate in the process at each validation centre," the statement said.
It urged the presidential aspirants or their duly accredited representatives to, within three days following the completion of the validation exercise in any constituency, submit a written complaint to the committee detailing any grievances, observations, or irregularities arising from the conduct of the validation process.
Seamless process
It urged all constituency validation committee members to be present on their scheduled dates to facilitate a seamless verification process.
It mentioned the constituency validation committee members as the Constituency Chairman of the Council of Elders, Constituency Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Organiser, Women Organiser, Research and Elections Officer, IT Officer, and presidential aspirants' representative of each constituency.
It said a former constituency executive may also be invited to authenticate the historical data.
TESCON
The statement further called on regional TESCON Coordinators to collaborate with their regional party leadership and the validation team assigned to their respective regions to ensure the accurate capturing and validation of their members in constituencies where their institutions are located.
The committee said it was unlawful for any person or persons to cause any disruption, chaos, or confusion at the validation centre.
"Pursuant to article 3(9)(1) of the party's constitution, all members who have forfeited their membership are excluded from the exercise," it said.
The committee said it valued the cooperation and partnership of all stakeholders in the validation process.
"Together, we shall deliver a register that upholds the credibility and integrity of the electoral process," it concluded.
