The Bono Regional Police Command has interdicted some of its officers after a video circulating on social media allegedly captured them taking money from motorists.
In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, police authorities said the officers involved have been identified and temporarily removed from duty to allow for a thorough and impartial investigation.
“The Command assures the public of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among its personnel,” the statement read.
The video, which has sparked public outrage online, appears to show uniformed officers receiving cash from drivers at what seems to be a roadside checkpoint.
While details about when and where the incident occurred remain unclear, police say steps are being taken to verify the authenticity of the footage and the context in which it was filmed.
This move forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader efforts to reinforce discipline and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
