South African rap sensation Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, professionally known as Nasty C, has clarified his fued with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.
In an interview with Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli on the Changes show, Nasty C explained that he was misunderstood by Sarkodie and his team, which unfortunately caused a stir on social media.
According to Nasty C, Sarkodie’s response to his freestyle was not pleasant, but he is not bothered by it.
“A lot of things got lost in translation. I don’t know if he misunderstood it or someone was in his ear and toning the wrong message but his response to the song that I put out was a little spicy. So I don’t know where his head is at the moment but I’m not really worried about it.”
He said that since the incident occurred in 2022, the two rappers have not had any conversation to settle the matter.
However, he expressed his willingness to resolve the issue with Sarkodie and “smoke the peace pipe” if Sarkodie’s team is willing to arrange a meeting.
“No one has organized that sit down yet and we’re both just busy with our lives. If he wants us to have a sit-down and have a chat, why not.”
When asked if he would collaborate with Sarkodie, Nasty C responded that he isn’t quite sure and would prefer that they resolve their differences first.
The two rappers’ beef stemmed from Nasty C revealing in a 2022 freestyle, 'No Big Deal' that he had rejected Sarkodie's collaboration requests because Sarkodie had refused to shake his hand when they first met.
After listening to the freestyle, Sarkodie responded with a diss track titled 'Landlord', where he asserted his status as a rap legend and mocked Nasty C.
But Nasty C later admitted his behavior was childish, saying that his emotions were clouded by anger and expressed respect for Sarkodie, stating he would give his best verse if asked for a collaboration again.
