Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), Samuel Nartey George, has officially introduced Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah as the new Acting Deputy Administrator (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) to staff at a brief ceremony on December 4, after the reassignment of Abdul-Aziz Mohammed.
During the meeting, the Minister tasked the Acting Deputy Administrator to work closely with the Acting Administrator, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, to help achieve the mission and vision of the Fund.
Her appointment marks a continuation of the government's refined vision to maximize the impact of its initiatives on rural connectivity, digital inclusion, and economic transformation.
Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Amoah-Amissah thanked President John Mahama and the Communication Minister for entrusting her with this critical role.
In her remarks, she noted, “As a leader, I believe that we all have a responsibility to serve society and make ethical choices around technology.”
She pledged her commitment to driving the GIFEC’s mandate forward through close partnership with the team.
Profile
Mrs. Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah is a senior technology executive with over 20 years of experience as a seasoned strategist and business operator within financial services, technology, and emerging markets.
She was most recently the Global Director of Business and Product Equity Partnerships and Programs at Meta, with a focus on driving fair and inclusive business practices across the company's product development and partnerships portfolio.
Before Meta, Mrs Amoah-Amissah was at Google for several years, where she led government, education, and mobile partnerships in Africa, business development in the UK, and global operations in the US.
In 2020, she became the first Black female Director at WhatsApp and in 2024, was named a top women leader in San Francisco. She holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University and an MBA with honors from the University of Oxford.
