Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has hinted that he is likely to take up a public office role soon, but has firmly ruled out any interest in becoming the next Special Prosecutor.
According to him, "That is not the office I have dreamt about, it is clear that some day I will go into public office, it is very clear to me now, but not Special Prosecutor," he said on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, 6th December, when addressing speculation surrounding his ongoing legal dispute with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
His remark comes amid criticism suggesting he is pushing for the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and for him to take over the role.
Here is a grammatically refined version:
He dismissed the claims as “paraphrased”, stressing that he cannot be seeking to replace Mr Agyebeng when he is the one leading calls for his removal.
“Having led the charge in calling for him (Kissi Agyebeng) to go, I should not be the one to replace him,” he said.
Mr Kpebu emphasised that while he expects to be appointed to public service in due course, the OSP is not a position he desires.
