Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GA), Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed that several top nations have expressed strong interest in facing the Black Stars in an international friendly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, these proposals have been coming in from "big countries" eager to test their squads against Ghana, given the team's competitive reputation on the world stage.
“Teams have already expressed interest, some African teams and then some European teams. Even before we accepted to play Japan and Korea, we had offers on the table,” he told Luv FM.
“Immediately after our qualification, countries started writing to us.
"And these are big, big countries, and I think that's what you need when you qualify for the World Cup at this point, yes, a lot of the discussion will also go into how we get ready in terms of the opposition that we face at the group stage."
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England and Croatia on June 23 and 27, respectively.
The 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup will feature 48 countries, the largest in the tournament’s history, and will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
