This year’s edition of Ceval Gospel Music Awards scheduled for October was launched in Accra by the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Mrs. Diana Hopeson.
The event, which has won the hearts of many gospel music fans, attracted a section of gospel musicians, stakeholders in the music and copyright sectors, journalists and some members of the public.
Launching the event, the MUSIGA President said the Union was working tirelessly to get Ghanaian musicians educated on issues affecting the industry.
She disclosed that the Union has already established a training school to give musicians a formal training, saying this formed part of the Union’s plans to help create a sustainable and a more enhanced music industry.
She explained that the training programme would seek to take musicians and potential musicians through the rudiments of writing good lyrics, playing of instruments and handling the business side of music as well as the social life of an artiste with regard to his/her character.
Reverend Cephas Amartey, Chief Executive Officer of Ceval Consult, the organizers of the event, in his welcome speech, said the Ceval Gospel Awards was designed with serious, committed and disciplined gospel artistes in mind who have an eye both on the national and international market.
He hinted that the awards was also designed to challenge and bring out the best in gospel artistes on a regular basis in all spheres of entertainment, spanning music, drama, poetry and in the general arts.
