Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has proposed a new incentive system that would allow individual tax centres to retain a percentage of the revenue they collect to motivate staff and enhance working conditions.
The proposal was made during his visit to the Kinbu Tax Service Centre, part of his nationwide engagements with frontline revenue officers.
Dr Forson said the initiative is aimed at boosting morale and strengthening the efficiency of Ghana’s revenue administration.
He explained that the retained funds “would be used by the specific tax centres to upgrade facilities and address the logistical and welfare needs of their staff”.
According to him, “a motivated and well-resourced workforce is essential to delivering the level of revenue mobilisation the country urgently requires.

Dr Forson also thanked the Kinbu team for their dedication and expressed confidence that, with the right motivation, Ghana’s revenue performance can significantly improve.
Chairman of the GRA Board, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, welcomed the Minister’s visit and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to retooling and reforming the authority while improving staff welfare across the country.
