The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has announced it will no longer support any activities organised by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA).
Speaking to the media, the association’s Head of Communications, Mr. Takyie Addo, expressed strong dissatisfaction with GUTA’s recent actions, particularly the inauguration of a new GUTA President without their involvement.
He noted that although GUTA is regarded as their mother association, major decisions are increasingly being taken without the knowledge or participation of one of Ghana’s largest business groups.
“In light of this ongoing situation, Mr. Addo declared that the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association would henceforth distance itself from any activities or decisions undertaken by GUTA, highlighting their need for recognition and inclusion in the decision-making processes that directly affect them.”
“He expressed his belief that this decision would have ramifications for GUTA’s operations, particularly regarding their ability to form effective and representative decisions, as he lamented the recent trend of GUTA executives making choices without engaging the leadership of the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.”
It is understood their stance will not change until GUTA formally engages its leadership.
