Former Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye is calling for the inclusion of foreign-born duo Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi into Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars booked their ticket to the FIFA World Cup after defeating Comoros to seal qualification for the 2026 global showpiece - their fifth in history.
The Black Stars will face Panama in their Group L opener before subsequent matches against England and Croatia.
The former Member of Parliament believes the England-based players will make the Black Stars “stronger” to compete against the fourth-ranked Three Lions.
“The good thing is that we are going to play against England,” he told Onua TV.
“It will rather give us a psychological advantage over them. They won’t have that overconfidence.
“Imagine having Jordan [Ayew], [Antoine] Semenyo, Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi in attack! It makes us stronger,” he added.
Nketiah, who has made only one appearance for England’s senior side, has scored four goals for Crystal Palace in all competitions this season.
Hudson-Odoi has three caps for England and has netted thrice for Nottingham Forest this term.
