MTN Ghana has honoured 50 Mobile Money agents and merchants in the Central Region for their outstanding contribution to the growth of the fintech industry and the company’s efforts to advance Ghana’s digital agenda.
The award ceremony, held in Elmina, celebrated agents and merchants whose dedication and hard work have helped expand access to mobile financial services across the country.
As part of the recognition, award winners received e-cash rewards ranging from GH¢2,000 to GH¢20,000 to support and grow their businesses. They were also presented with certificates in appreciation of their commitment and service.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, the Senior Manager in charge of MTN Ghana’s South West Region, Prince Owusu Nyarko, said the company remains committed to supporting businesses that operate on its platform.
“Our platform is available 24/7. Any business that wants to plug in and work with us can do so. We see ourselves as platform players supporting our partners to grow,” he stated.
He explained that MTN works closely with a wide range of agents and merchants within the mobile money ecosystem, stressing that the company’s role is to provide a reliable platform that enables partners to succeed.

“If you look at the industry, there are agents and merchants we work with every day. We play our part by making the platform available and supporting them to grow their businesses,” he added.
Under the awards scheme, the highest-performing agent received GH¢20,000, while the top merchant was awarded GH¢15,000.
Some of the award recipients expressed joy and gratitude for the recognition. Theresa Asiedu of Hanstess Ventures described the award as a motivation to work harder, saying it was encouraging to see MTN acknowledge the efforts of agents and merchants at the grassroots level.
Similarly, Seth Osardu of Seth Osardu Ventures said he was excited and proud to be recognised, noting that the support from MTN would go a long way in helping him expand his business and improve service delivery to customers.
Mr Owusu Nyarko encouraged the award recipients, as well as all MTN agents and merchants nationwide, to continue playing their roles in expanding mobile money services and supporting the company’s growth.
