A founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamekloe, has said a significant number of party members share the views expressed by former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, regarding the current state of the party.
Professor Frimpong-Boateng had claimed that the NPP, in its present form, no longer reflects the principles and values upon which it was founded.

Speaking on the comment on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Tuesday, January 13, Dr Nyaho-Tamekloe appeared to support the former minister’s comments, describing them as a reflection of widespread sentiment within the party.
"There are a lot of people who have similar views, just like Frimpong-Boateng has gotten; maybe they are not aware."
Following this, the NPP has begun formal processes to expel the former minister.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said it had taken “due notice” of remarks made by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng on Channel One TV on Monday, 12 January 2026, during which he openly stated that he no longer considers himself a member of the party.

However, Dr Nyaho-Tamekloe warned that if the party leadership decides to expel Professor Frimpong-Boateng over his remarks, it should be prepared to take similar action against many others, as several members also believe the party is gradually breaking apart.
"If they are going to displace Frimpong-Boateng, and I am told the whole thing is in the process, then very soon, they will sack a lot of people from the party," he said.
