A delegation from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), led by Dr Osman T. Damba, Secretary-General of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, and Joan Agyekum Nsowah, Programmes Officer, paid a working visit to the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) at its head office in Accra on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
The meeting was organised to formally engage the newly appointed Deputy Administrator of GIFEC following the recent leadership transition. The interaction formed part of deliberate efforts to ensure institutional continuity and strategic alignment.
Discussions focused on GIFEC’s prior acceptance of responsibility to host UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP), with preparatory activities already underway.
The engagement provided an opportunity to reaffirm GIFEC’s commitment to IFAP, deepen leadership-level understanding, and align expectations to support a smooth transition and the effective delivery of the programme in line with its mandate.
The delegation was received by the Deputy Administrator of the Fund, Mrs Nana Akyaa Amoah Amissah, on behalf of management.
Also in attendance were Mr Kafui Yao Doh, Head of Sustainability and Partnerships, and Mr Ruben Tetteh, Head of Media Relations.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to reconstitute the relevant committee at a subsequent engagement to advance the implementation of the programme.
