President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, says the Black Queens will be playing to win the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Queens discovered their opponents for the competition to be staged in Morocco on Thursday, where they were drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.
Kim Lars Bjorkegren's side finished third in the last edition of the continental tournament after beating South Africa on penalties to win bronze.
On the back of last year's tournament, Okraku believes the Black Queens will be targeting the ultimate in Morocco once again.
"The ambition of the nation is to win the trophy [WAFCON]. And I think that we are not far away from that," he said.
"I think that on the back of the fact that Ghana were third at the last WAFCON [2024 WAFCON], Ghana should be ready to face any opponent. Ghana [Black Queens] should be able to play against any side on the African continent if you want to become a champion."
While they will aim to become champions for the first time, Ghana will also be hoping to be in the semi-finals, which will guarantee automatic qualification to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
The Black Queens last played at the Mundial in 2007.
The 2026 WAFCON starts on March 17 with the final scheduled for April 3.
