An independent researcher and financial economist, Dr Evans Duah, has said Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is the only New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant likely to secure more than 50 per cent plus one vote in the party’s flagbearer primaries scheduled for January 31.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews on Monday, January 19, Dr Duah said his assessment is based on a recent survey conducted among party delegates to assess voting patterns ahead of the contest.
“As of January, and what I have seen, if any one of these candidates will cross the 50+1, it will be Honourable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong,” he said.

He dismissed suggestions that the survey was designed to favour Mr Agyapong, stating that he personally financed the exercise without any support from the five aspirants.
“I did it myself. None of the candidates funded it, and I am not biased in any way,” he said.
According to Dr Duah, while the race remains competitive, the data indicate that only Mr Agyapong currently commands the level of delegate support required to cross the critical threshold for an outright win.
The chartered accountant and lecturer added that the findings place the former Assin Central MP as the frontrunner among the five contenders seeking the party’s flagbearer position.
The NPP primaries form part of the party’s reorganisation process following its defeat in the 2024 general elections, as it positions itself to return to power in 2028.
