The Founder and Executive Chairman of the First Sky Group of Companies, Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, has disclosed that his company has spent more than GH¢51 million over the past eight years on the medical bills of patients undergoing dialysis at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Mr Kutortse said the intervention reflects his conviction that business leadership must go beyond the pursuit of capital gains to include a deliberate commitment to supporting the vulnerable in society.
According to him, the First Sky Group’s investment in dialysis care forms part of a broader effort to ease the financial burden on patients and families struggling with the high cost of treatment.
"We believe also that economic development loses its soul if it leaves the vulnerable behind. That is why over the past eight years, the First Sky Group has committed over GH¢51 million to provide free dialysis to patients at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital," he said while speaking during the group's 23rd anniversary and thanksgiving service held in Accra on Sunday, January 25.
Mr Kutortse added that the company would continue to integrate social responsibility into its operations, stressing that corporate organisations have a moral obligation to complement government efforts in addressing critical social challenges.
He also praised the government’s MahamaCare initiative, saying it would help to reduce the burden faced by the less privileged in society.
