All five aspirants vying for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary ticket in Ayawaso East have been cleared following a successful vetting exercise.
The vetting, which took place at the party’s Greater Accra Regional Office, concluded ahead of the primary election scheduled for February 7.
The aspirants subsequently proceeded to ballot for their positions in preparation for the contest.
The cleared candidates, in order of balloting, are Mohammed Ramme, the NDC Constituency Chairman; Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament; Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria; Yakubu Azindow; and Najib Mohammed.
Speaking to the media, the NDC Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, commended all aspirants for their cooperation throughout the vetting process.
He urged the candidates to intensify their campaigns in the constituencies, stressing the importance of conducting themselves responsibly to ensure a smooth and successful primary.
“We’ve also admonished them to go into the constituencies to do their needful by campaigning and ensuring that the right things are being done, just to ensure that what we started from the beginning will end successfully,” he said on Wednesday, January 28.
