A member of the Chinery-Hesse Committee (CHC), Mr Fred Oware has rubbished suggestions the committee compiled two different reports on gratuity for former presidents.
He said those making the allegation should have verified from Parliament whether two separate reports were sent to the House.
The Ishmael Yamson Committee (IYC) which was constituted by President J.E.A. Mills to review the CHC recommendations said there were two “Final” reports both purported to have been coming from the former president for parliamentary approval.
But Oware told Joy News that could not have been the case.
He explained that the committee at every stage compiled the work it had done so far and thought, that of the ‘‘working papers” could have been mistaken for a complete report.
Mr Oware also rejected the statement of the IYC that the economy could not support the recommendations of the CHC.
He argued that at the time those recommendations were being made, the economy was at a better stead and could cater for provisions made.
The IYC reviewed the recommendations of the CHC cutting down on many of the provisions.
The CHC provided for six vehicles and two houses for a former president but the IYC reduced the number of vehicles to four and made provision for one house saying that will suffice.
