Spanish side Real Zaragoza have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian youngster Mawuli Mensah until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Mensah joins the club on an initial six-month deal from Real Betis with the option to extend the deal until the summer of 2028.
The 22-year-old was hoping to break through at Betis, having been with the club's youth team since arriving from Shooting Stars in 2022.
However, the midfielder has been unable to feature for the senior team, prompting a move away from the Seville-based club.
Zaragoza moved swiftly to bolster their midfield options for the second half of the season with the addition of the Ghanaian.
"Real Zaragoza and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mawuli Mensah to the Zaragoza team," the La Liga 2 side announced on their website.
"Mensah [Accra, Ghana, 11/15/2003] is a midfielder who, after training in his country of birth, arrived in Spain with Antequera and, in the summer of 2023, Betis incorporated him for their reserve team.Â
"With a record of 9 goals and one assist in 65 games with Betis Deportivo, Mensah now arrives in Zaragoza to complete the midfield of the team managed by Rubén Sellés and signs for the remainder of the season, with an option to extend until 2028."
Mensah will be hoping an opportunity in the second tier of Spanish football will kick-start greater things to come in his career.
