Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that preparations are underway to commemorate a one-year anniversary of the Ninth Parliament.
He described the milestone as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and institutional strengthening.
According to the Speaker in a Facebook post, the anniversary will provide Members of Parliament with the chance to review lessons learnt over the past year and recommit themselves to Parliament’s constitutional mandate of serving the nation.
Rt Hon Bagbin noted that the occasion should inspire renewed focus, responsibility, and dedication to the legislative process, as Parliament continues to navigate complex national challenges.
Reflecting on the work of the First Session, the Speaker acknowledged the steady progress made in fulfilling Parliament’s constitutional responsibilities. He commended Members of Parliament, parliamentary leadership, committees, staff of the Parliamentary Service, and civil society partners for their collective contributions, stressing that recent achievements were the result of cooperation and shared effort.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga and Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin also delivered statements, joining the Speaker in welcoming Members as Parliament prepares to mark the anniversary.
