First Lady Lordina Mahama has announced the completion of three modern maternity and children’s wards across Ghana, aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare delivery.
She made the disclosure on Sunday, February 15, at the 30th OAFLAD Summit in Addis Ababa, where she spoke in her capacity as President of the Lordina Foundation.
Highlighting the Foundation’s growing footprint in the health sector, Mrs Mahama underscored its commitment to improving access to quality care for mothers and children.
“Every mother deserves a safe space to give birth, and every child deserves a strong and healthy start to life,” she stated. “Through the Lordina Foundation, we are investing in facilities that bring quality healthcare closer to families who need it most.”
The newly completed wards are located at the Bole District Hospital, Nkoranza Municipal Hospital, and Bodom Health Centre.
According to the First Lady, the facilities are equipped to provide enhanced maternal and paediatric services in modern, dignified environments.
“These projects are not just buildings; they are symbols of hope, safety, and renewed confidence in our healthcare system,” she said.
Mrs Mahama further revealed that another maternity and children’s ward at Asukawkaw is nearing completion, reaffirming the Foundation’s sustained investment in community health infrastructure.
“Our mission remains clear — to support families, strengthen communities, and ensure that no woman or child is left behind,” she added.
