Ghanaian and Manchester City attacker Antoine Semenyo has admitted Real Madrid were "very good" and "brought us down to earth" after their heavy defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.
Federico Valverde's first-half hat-trick was enough to put the record champions in the ascendancy ahead of the return leg.
It could have been more after Gianluigi Donnarumma brought down Vinícius Júnior for a penalty, but the Brazilian failed to convert the opportunity.
Reacting to the defeat on his debut in the competition, Semenyo said: "they are very good on transitions and the was a couple of spaces in the middle of the park and they exploited that.
"We just go back to the drawing board. I think the [defeat] brings us down to earth essentially."
"They are a good team. We just go back to the drawing board and do what we need to do and hopefully Tuesday, we can change it," Semenyo added.
Man City face West Ham United in the Premier League before hosting Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium for the second encounter on March 17.
