Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed that his father strongly opposed his career choice.
Speaking in a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the Sungba crooner recalled that his relationship became cold after his father went against his decision to pursue a music career.
Asake disclosed that he disobeyed his father by absconding from him to chase his dream.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now, but my father said, ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he said.
In March 2025, Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, made headlines after he accused the singer of neglect and abandonment.
Following the heavy backlash, Asake and his father reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his dad’s welfare.
