The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Mrs. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, has delivered her maiden State of the Constituency Address (SOCA), outlining key achievements, ongoing projects, and future priorities aimed at transforming the constituency.

The event, held at Haatso Pentecost, brought together traditional leaders, political party executives, residents, and stakeholders across the constituency.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga East, Edmund Agboh, who chaired the event, delivered the welcome address. He commended the MP for initiating the constituency address and her development-oriented leadership.

“This platform strengthens transparency and deepens democratic accountability at the local level,” Mr. Agboh noted, urging continued collaboration between stakeholders.

In her address, Mrs. Akurugu emphasized accountability and development, stating that the SOCA serves as “both a constitutional responsibility and a moral duty” to report back to constituents. She highlighted progress in education, healthcare, sanitation, youth empowerment, and infrastructure.

A key highlight of the address was the announcement that, she had cut sod for the construction of the 5.2-kilometre Narhman–Grand Style Hotel–Musuku Road.

“This marks an important milestone in our collective effort to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity within our community, This road project is not just about transportation, but about development, access, and improving livelihoods.” she said

In an interview, Makafui Klutsey, aide to the MP, described the SOCA as a strategic initiative aimed at fostering direct engagement between leadership and constituents.

“This initiative is about openness. The MP wants the people to know what is being done, what challenges exist, and how we move forward together,” Mr. Klutsey explained.

“It also allows feedback, which is critical for responsive governance.”

Also speaking to the media, Benjamin Stephen Nyarko, executive secretary to the MCE, praised Mrs. Akurugu’s leadership and commitment to development.

“Hon. Akurugu has demonstrated strong dedication to the growth of Dome-Kwabenya. Her focus on infrastructure, particularly roads and street lighting, is already making an impact,” Mr. Nyarko said.

Other constituency executives and stakeholders who attended the event also lauded the MP’s performance, describing the address as comprehensive and forward-looking.

The State of the Constituency Address is expected to become an annual platform for reporting and engagement, reinforcing accountability and inclusive governance within the constituency.
