Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that the party has failed to deliver meaningful change despite its “reset” agenda.
Mr Baffour Awuah made the remarks on JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday, 28 March.
According to him, the NDC’s return to power was driven largely by public dissatisfaction with the previous administration rather than a stronger policy alternative.
“The only thing the NDC succeeded in resetting this country is by getting Ghanaians to reject the NPP for them to do worse,” he stated.
He maintained that the current administration has yet to meet public expectations, insisting that its performance raises concerns about governance and delivery.
Baffour Awuah argued that the reset agenda must be reflected in tangible improvements across key sectors rather than rhetoric.
His comments follow a report by The Fourth Estate, a project of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), which raised concerns over procurement processes, highlighting the extensive use of sole sourcing and potential cost inflation in the award of contracts.
According to the publication, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, oversaw 81 sole-sourced contracts valued at over GH¢73 billion within seven months. However, the Minister has rejected the claims, stating that only 44% of major contracts under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme were awarded through sole sourcing.
