A heavy downpour swept across large parts of Ghana in the early hours of Sunday, beginning around 3:30 am and continuing into the morning.
This was in line with earlier forecasts by the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet).
The rains have been steady and intense in several regions, disrupting activities earmarked by Christians to mark Palm Sunday, ahead of Easter.
Low-lying areas in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Central regions were particularly affected, with reports of waterlogging in several communities.
Some of the areas where floods have been reported include Nima, Weija, Kasoa, Kaneshie, Accra Central, Circle, Dansoman, and Mallam Junction.

GMet had previously hinted at the likelihood of significant rainfall over the weekend, urging the public to take necessary precautions.
As of the time of this report, the rains were still ongoing in several areas.
No official reports of casualties or major property damage have been released so far.
